How this Atheist Surgeon Became a Believer

 Dr Michael Egnor is an experienced American brain surgeon. He chose this profession because he wanted to understand the meaning of human life. He did not believe in any kind of spiritual or supernatural reality. He was convinced that we are only biological machines.

He had studied various branches of science but he started to think that the theory of evolution was not supported by hard evidence comparable to other scientific theories.

Then he found that patients often were not mentally disabled after brain surgery, even when large parts of their brain had been removed. He started to wonder if we might be something more than biological machines. 

Then something terrible happened to him. His wife had a baby boy that was disturbingly abnormal. He did not respond with eye contact with his parents. He showed no awareness that his parents were people. It was if his mother and father were just pieces of furniture.

Dr Egnor was terrified that his son might autistic. He was afraid that his son would not love him, that his son did not even know he existed as a person.

When his son was nearly 6 months old, he was working in a Catholic hospital. He went into the chapel on day and knelt to pray.

He pleaded with the God that he did not believe in.

“God. I don't know if you exist, but if you do exist, could you take this away from me please. This is something I can’t deal with. I can’t have my son be autistic and not know me.”

And then he heard a voice, the only time in his life this had happened.

The voice said:
“But that’s what you are doing to me.”

So suddenly he believed it was God speaking. He told God he would not do it to Him any more. 

“I won’t be autistic to you. But please make my son not autistic to me.”

 A few days later, his six-month-old baby started responding normally. He grew up to be a normal, intelligent university student.

From then on, Dr Egnor believed in Jesus. He now teaches publicly, that we are not just biological machines but living souls created by God.

An Atheist Finds God

Perhaps you think you cannot believe. If you want to believe, God will help you to come to faith.

A young atheist felt the emptiness in his soul. He saw a church and went in, where he observed pious worshippers.

He began to speak to God in his own way.

God, if you exist, and I don't believe you do, then I don't think it's my duty to believe in you. On the contrary, it is your duty to reveal your existence to me. If you exist, then let me find you.

In a remote village lived an old man who loved Jesus. He prayed for years that God would help him bring a Jew to faith.

One day, the young atheist, who was Jewish, was going on a journey. He looked for accommodation in the village and the old Christian welcomed him.

He gave him a Bible to read. As the young man read the Testament, he felt the love of God like fire in his heart and he believed.

The young atheist was of Jewish origin, but only when he met Jesus as his Messiah did he find the God of Israel.

Are you Jewish, Muslim, Hindu or Buddhist? It doesn't matter. Jesus was born a Jew and lived on earth as a Jew, but he died on a cruel cross to suffer the punishment for our sins.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. Jn 3:16 NIV

Delivered from Demons

 God created you. Your birth was planned and willed by God because he saw and loved you even before the creation of the world.

Regardless of whether the circumstances of your birth were favourable or not. God simply loves you.
No matter what you have done or what has been done to you. God simply loves you.

This creation is corrupted, but not completely ruined.

God has a cruel enemy who wants to poison and destroy all of God's works, and he has done a lot of damage, perhaps in your life as well.

No matter what has happened in your life, God has a plan to give you a good future.

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Jer 29:11 NKJV

I once saw a preacher from Brazil in a video recording. She told how she was dedicated to demons from birth because her whole family worshipped the devil.

As a small child, she was tormented by demons. She could not sleep without terrible nightmares.

At the age of twelve, she was possessed by demons that drove her to live on the streets as a prostitute. Gradually, she learnt to live her life as a witch with magical powers. She became known as a witch and Christians prayed for her.

She herself was cruel, but also terribly tormented. The devil is very cruel, even with his slaves. Her suffering became unbearable until she desperately sought help. She didn't know which spirit was stronger, the devil or God, but she prayed for help.

Jesus then visited her and she experienced a revelation, like in a video. She saw Jesus suffer and die on the cross, taking the punishment for her sin upon himself.

She converted to Jesus, but then her little daughter fell ill. The devils sought revenge and her daughter died, but she herself was forgiven and set free by Jesus.

Then God raised her up to give her testimony. Many prostitutes and occultists were converted. As a witch she was very dangerous, but as a Christian preacher she became a powerful weapon in God's hands.

For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life! Rom 5:10 NIV

God Can Rescue You

 How can Jesus save you from your troubles? You don't know. But with God, nothing is impossible. He has a plan for you.  

They got up, drove him out of the town, and took him to the brow of the hill on which the town was built, in order to throw him off the cliff.

But he walked right through the crowd and went on his way. Lk 4:29–30 NIV

How did Jesus escape the angry crowd? A mystery.

How can Jesus save you from your misery? You don't know. It's a mystery, but He can.

How did the Holy Spirit plant the holy seed in Mary's womb so that she became pregnant and Jesus was born nine months later?

It's a mystery, but with God nothing is impossible.

Gaby Wentland is a preacher in Hamburg who was once a missionary in Africa. She now has a different mission in Germany. She helps asylum seekers and enslaved prostitutes.

She says there is more prayer in brothels than in most churches.

A German evangelist heard God's still small voice whispering in his spirit. He was told to go to a brothel. He was shocked, but he wanted to obey.

In the brothel he found a decent woman from a distant country who had been enticed to come to Germany to find work to help her poor family.

The evangelist was able to help her escape from the brothel and return to her family.

God has ways of helping His children. Don't you see a way out? God has good plans for you.

He is waiting for your cry for help. Right now.

NDE. Pastor's Son Died and Sent Back

He heals the brokenhearted And binds up their wounds. Ps 147:3 NKJV

A pastor in England was faithful and sincere in his ministry. Then a trauma came unexpectedly, and the devoted preacher snapped.

His beloved son became seriously ill, but the pastor and his wife did not take him to the hospital immediately because it was apparently just the flu. But one evening the boy had a fever of over 40 degrees and his parents called the ambulance.

At the hospital, they realised that Jeremy's life was in danger because of a burst appendix. They had to operate.

That was the worst time of his father's life. He cried out desperately. He angrily complained to God because as a faithful Christian and pastor, he seemed unfair for God to take his son away.

Meanwhile, the little boy was very close to death in the operating theatre, but miraculously he did not die.

Seven days after the operation, Jeremy was allowed to go home and soon, he was completely healthy again.

Four months after the operation, he amazed his father.

Jeremy told his father how he had visited heaven during the operation, how he had seen angels and spoken to Jesus.

His father was sure at first that this experience was a fantasy, but then his son told him clearly and factually how he had spoken to his father's brother and his mother's sister.

His parents were shocked and wanted to know more.

This was a deep comfort to his parents. His father loved his brother as his closest friend until he died in an accident.

His mother's sister died of leukaemia when Jeremy was only three months old. His parents had been mourning in secret ever since and hadn't said anything to their son about it.

Then the father asked more about Jeremy's time in heaven.

At the end, I asked him:

‘Jeremy, did you really want to come back?’
‘No, Dad, I didn't want to come back. But Jesus came and said to me: ‘Jeremy, you can't stay here, you have to go back now. Your mummy and daddy need you.'

He told me that he had answered your prayers when you cried out angrily in the hospital waiting room.’

GOD GIVES SIGNS TODAY

Then some of the Pharisees and teachers of the law said to him, "Teacher, we want to see a miraculous sign from you."

• He answered, "A wicked and adulterous generation asks for a miraculous sign! But none will be given it except the sign of the prophet Jonah. Matthew 12:38-39 (NIV) 

What a strange thing for the Pharisees to say! They had been witnessing the most amazing miracles day after day but they asked for a sign from heaven as though they had seen nothing unusual at all.

In the Gospel of John, we read that the many miracles of Jesus were signs from God.

Of course the Pharisees knew all about miracles that Jesus worked but they refused to recognise them as signs from God. 

However, even amongst the religious leaders there were some who were humble enough to recognise the hand of God at work.

There was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. 

This man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, “Rabbi, we know that You are a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him.” John 3:1-2

So it is today that many Christians who believe in the Bible are like the Pharisees who saw themselves as the defenders of Biblical truth. 
When evangelists today pray for the sick, many are healed but quite a number are not healed. There are also some who are apparently healed but then get sick again or go back to their wheelchairs. Then there are others who are healed but not converted.
So many pious Bible believers today point out these apparent failures and accuse men and women with miracle ministries of being fakes and frauds.

However if they sought out the many people who really were healed and stayed healed they would change their minds but clearly they don’t want to change their minds.

I was privileged to hear a wonderful man of God preach in Germany. He was a pastor and evangelist from West Africa. He leads a church in Düsseldorf where there are over 750 baptised members who converted from Islam, mostly because they had received miraculous healings or seen their friends healed by the power of Jesus. 

But the critics are not interested in success stories. They are only looking for evidence to discredit miracle ministries and prove themselves right, just like the Pharisees.

• Please don’t think I am an arrogant and aggressive Pentecostal. I dislike this brand of Christianity myself. I am not against non-Charismatic Christians in general but I will not tolerate the negative unbelief of the people who are completely anti Charismatic and do nothing but criticise and attack.

Years ago there was a pastor in a very conservative denomination who was taught not to pray for miraculous healings. 

He was called to minister to a little girl who was terribly sick with a terminal condition. He was moved with compassion, just as Jesus often was. The pastor prayed for the little girl to be healed and to his astonishment God raised her up and healed her completely. 

The conservative pastor was very confused and troubled. Was the doctrine of his church right after all? Had he done the right thing?
When the pastor attended a preachers’ conference he told his story to the famous evangelist, Oral Roberts. He asked Oral Roberts: “How can I know if I did the right thing?”

God gave Oral Roberts a supernatural inspiration in the form of the “word of wisdom”. He said to the confused pastor: “If you are not sure if you did the right thing, why don’t you ask the little girl?”

The revelation was a like turning on a light. The pastor went around the conference telling everyone the story and repeating the wise words of the evangelist: “Why don’t you ask the little girl?”
